St. Bernard’s Academy Memorial Scholarships

Honoring two SB legends and Hall of Famers– Coach Bob Robertson and Madalenne Smith.

St. Bernard’s legend Bob Robertson ’72 passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2025. His smile was always present on campus. First as a student and then as a teacher and coach. He was also a Crusader parent of Tim and Scott.

His final years at St. Bernard’s were spent as our amazing volunteer — facilities and athletics and alumni support — and our SB Foundation Chair. 

Coach will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

Mrs. Smith, our gift of a librarian, passed away on May 26, 2025, after 88 years of service to the Lord.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Nazareth Academy (what we were first called as a school) in 1951. A devote Catholic and mother of three amazing human beings, Mrs. Smith served in the Navy and worked as a librarian at St. Bernard’s for thirteen years.

Her goal was to bring joy with her to work each day. Her daughters credit St. Bernard’s for providing their mom with purpose, community, and connection. We credit their mom for creating a welcoming home for students, staff, and books — so many great books!
