Cell Phone Policy

CELLULAR PHONES / RELATED DEVICES

Cell phones are not necessary in the classroom and often distract students from learning opportunities.

High School

  1.  Cellphones must be turned off and turned into the teacher at the beginning of each class.  
  2. Smart Watches must have notifications turned off or if cellular enabled, turned into the teacher. 
  3. Related accessories (earpods, headphones, etc.) are to be stored. 
  4. Cellphones may be used during passing periods, breaks and lunch periods. Cellphones must be silenced while on during these times. 
  5.  Students needing to contact a parent or guardian are welcome to come to the office to use the phone. Likewise, parents are welcome to contact the office if student contact is needed. 
  6. Meta Glasses are not allowed on campus. 

    Middle School

    1. Cell phones and similar devices (i.e. apple watches, air pods) are to be turned off and placed in the student’s backpack or locker during the course of the school day including break and lunch.
    2. Students needing to contact a parent or guardian are welcome to come to the office to use the phone. Likewise, parents are welcome to contact the office if student contact is needed.
    3. Cell phones will be taken from middle school students and kept until the end of the day if students are seen on a device.
    4. 6th grade students are not allowed to have a cell phone in the classroom.

    Consequences: 

    • First offense:  Device will be turned into the office and returned to the student at the end of the day.
    • Second and subsequent offenses: Device will be confiscated from the student and turned into the office. Parents/guardians will be notified and a conference may be scheduled. Only parents/guardians can pick up the device. Detention may be assigned.

     

    Students utilizing a cellphone for medical monitoring, may keep their cellphone. Please make sure the office is aware of your student’s needs.
