Summer reading will be different this year. We have a list of suggested novels and plays on our website, but students do not have to turn in a reading journal in August.
Students do not have to read from the list of suggestions, but regular reading all summer is a critical way to prepare for the school year and for life beyond SB.
Read what you love. Read to find what you love. But read, read, read.
AP English Lit 12:
Seniors enrolled in AP Literature and Composition need to complete the following before the start of school, and have a personal copy of each book for class annotations.
“How To Read Literature Like A Professor” by Thomas Foster — Create a Power Point or Prezi on each chapter for the 1st week of school
“They Say / I Say” by Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein — 10-15 bullet-point summary for each chapter
Please look at the reading list on the school website and ensure that you have completed at least one Shakespearean play, and three literary works such as “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “Lord of the Flies”, and “Of Mice and Men” prior to the AP Literature Course.
